The next superintendent of the Wilkinsburg School District will be expected to: Have an aptitude for working in a culturally diverse community with a wide range of socioeconomic levels.
- Have an aptitude for working in a culturally diverse community with a wide range of socioeconomic levels.
- Encourage a collaborative environment of close cooperation between parents, teachers and other school district staff.
- Demonstrate experience in a building or district where student achievement has been increasing and describe the role that the superintendent must play in that process.
- Speak knowledgeably on general aspects of school district budgeting and know where to go for advice and assistance; describe how to supervise purchasing, payroll and other fiscal matters.
- Collaborate and partner with the school board, demonstrating the knowledge and resource-collection skills that contribute to governance discussions as the board’s chief systems advisor.
- Efficiently manage the operation of a school facility.
- Establish a strong and effective management team and coordinate decision-making with other administrators.
- Demonstrate skill in supervising employees at all levels and in developing programs for staff evaluation and corrective action plans, new staff orientation, and staff recruitment.
- Lead, manage and coach district leaders; demonstrate leadership skills that have motivated others to assume leadership roles.
- Effect change successfully, in spite of some reluctance on the part of staff, by motivating staff and students, bolstering morale and generating enthusiasm.
Salary is negotiable and will be competitive, based on training and experience, qualifications and meeting board criteria including but not limited to the skills listed above.
